Gary Farrelly
I'm an Irish artist based in Brussels and Dublin. My work is characterised by a recurring obsession with infrastructure, bureaucracy and architectural power. Manifestations of the practice include drawings, textiles, performances, installations and a radio show. A monocratic voice is central to the practice, animating the material with permissive information, forecasts and pronouncements. Since 2015, a significant part of my work takes place in collaboration with German artist Chris Dreier, under the banner of Office for Joint Administrative Intelligence – a coauthored, multi-nodal practice in the form of an intelligence agency. I hold a BA from the National College of Art and Design in Dublin and an MFA from LUCA School of the Arts. My work have been exhibited, screened and performed in a number of international contexts including: Salzburger Kunstverein, UTD CentralTrak (Dallas), Marres- Centre for Contemporary Culture (Maastricht), Goldsmiths Centre for contemporary Art (London), Damien and The Love Guru (Brussels) and AAIR (Antwerp). Together with Chris Dreier I produce a regular radio show for Cashmere Radio (Berlin) and Dublin Digital Radio. I'm currently supported by a bursary from the Arts Council of Ireland.
